Hurricane Sandy

Hey guys
Hope  everyone is safe from Hurricane Sandy and I hope the least amount of people will possible will lose power.
That being said I wanted to get this post out before there is no power.

The importance of footwork.
Footwork is the most underrated part of tennis. Footwork can increase a person's reaction time, endurance, and it will allow people to reach some shots that people couldn't normally get. If a person develops proper footwork they will guaranteed start winning more matches.

Here's how to do footwork.
When a person is about to serve and tosses the ball in the air, the person should split step. Some people say to do it as the person is hitting the ball, but that an end up being to late.

During a baseline rally, split step when the other person is swinging right before they are about to hit the ball.

When you are going to hit a ball make sure you are constantly doing small steps and are on your tippy toes. It should be almost as if as if you are doing a series of small jumps before you are going to hit the ball. But you have to make sure that as you are swinging you are set and balanced, or else the shot will either be a mishit or it will create an unforced error.

Hope everyone stays safe!
Thanks

Some Serving Tips

Serving is the TOUGHEST shot in tennis.
It is the most physically demanding shot, and it's a shot that requires a high amount of skill, technique, and most importantly practice.

Tips:
1. PRACTICE!!!!!!!
Serving is a shot that can easily be improved with practice. Serving can become a weapon instead of a liability within a matter of a month or less if they do about a bucket of balls a day. Just go rights after school or work to the courts and just do about a bucket. This should take about 15 minutes and it can improve a person a lot. This is also a great tactic because when a person starts doing homework or they are relaxing at home it is hard to get up and go play. So the best thing to do is to go right after school or work.

2. Get more speed while getting it in

A lot of people say to snap the wrist down during a serve to get more power, while this may be correct the coach hasn't explained it correctly. What a person should do is actually swing upwards and snap the wrist forwards. Forwards and down may seem like it is the same thing, but it is not. A person should snap from when their wrist is all the way back, snapping down implies for a person to snap when their arm is straight, but this is actually too late. This may be a little confusing and I will make a video to clarify in the future, as this    is a really great tip.

3. Use the platform stance
Now I know people are going to disagree and that I will be considered a troll, but you should really start using the platform stance. Here's why:
Serving is like throwing a ball and when you are balanced in the platform stance then you can throw faster.

Some people will argue that a person gets more of their body weight and force into the ball with pinpoint stance, but a person can still get as much forward force with a platform stance if they do it right.

That's all for now
Hope to see you guys soon!

Babolat Aero Pro Drive Review

Hey everyone,

Here is my first tennis product review!

I will be doing on the racquet of choice of Rafael Nadal, the AeroPro Drive GT!

Here is the basis of my reviews

Power
Control
Spin
Arm Friendliness
Serving
Volleys
Overall
I will give each category a number based on 1-10
The overall category will be the average of all of the other categories combined

Here are the specs for the AeroPro Drive GT:
String Pattern: 16 x 19
Weight: 11.3 oz
Head Size: 100 square inches
Balance: 4 pts HL
Stiffness: 70
Length: 27 in

Power: 8.5
This racquet provides a very good amount of power, but I wish that it would be a bit more forgiving when you have mishits.

Control: 8.5
This racquet has a very high amount of control, but sometimes when you are going to pull your opponent wide it doesn't give you the angle unless you have enough spin.

Spin: 9.5
This is where this racquet excels. It has so much spin potential and when you do Rafael Nadal's signature buggy whip forehand you can create some outright winners with the speed, spin, and angle produced by the racquet.

Arm Friendliness: 6.5
This is where the racquet falls short. I have gotten tennis elbow from this racquet and it has forced me to sometimes sit out. But I did do some elbow strengthening exercises and the pain went away. It is also important to note that I was playing about 5-7 hours of tennis a day for about 2 months straight. But if you are a player who plays seriously year round and get elbow problems you may want to do some elbow strengthening exercises before you get your hands on this racquet.

Serving: 8.5
Serving with this racquet is great. It will give good power on your flat serve, high kick on your second serve, and knife like slice on your slice serve.

Volleys: 9.0
Volleys are great. You get easy access to power and control to finish off the point

Overall: 8.5
Overall, this is a great racquet with tremendous spin but a little stiff.
